Our Mission Is Clear
"To provide comprehensive early childhood education and
therapeutic services specifically designed to assist each child in
reaching his or her highest potential."
Fifty years ago Longmont parents of children with disabilities had
few options for their children. They could, as many were advised
to do, place their children in institutions or they could make do
with the limited special programs available in public or private
schools.
That changed in 1956 when a group of Longmont families took action
on their shared vision. They created a unique program that has grown
to be a mainstay of our community. They founded Tiny Tim.
"There's something magic about the Tiny
Tim Center. It manifests when a young child reaches out to help
a classmate with special needs and realizes that the differences
between them are few. It happens when teachers say 'Yes' to parents
who have heard too many 'No's' about their child with special needs.
It appears out of thin air each time a child wakes up in the morning
and beams, 'Is today school day?' Support for Tiny Tim is a tribute
to the courage, persistence, and excitement of the children and
an investment in children throughout the community. It is the magic
formula for helping kids explore, learn, grow, and find success."
